Make That Four in a Row!!!
2014-01-10The Orleans RUSH are really hitting their collective stride, winning 3-1 over Cumberland 6 at Ray Friel last night.
The boys started off a bit slow this contest but the Dukes were unable to take advantage and with some stellar netminding from goalie Seb and great "D", particularly by Griffin and Dom, the forwards were allowed a bit of a grace period. Halfway through the opening frame, Justin broke the scoreless seal by potting the disc into the Cumberland cage after multiple whacks by various Orleans players.
At the 7:39 mark of the second stanza, Collin ripped his shot in the open left side to stake his mates to a 2-0 lead. Cumberland bounced back quickly though and scored one of their own just 9 seconds later. The insurance marker came early in the final period with a nice shot on net by Julien and a terrific rebound goal by Vincent. Some late penalty action made things interesting but the RUSH held on, almost scoring two empty netters in the process.
The boys will need to be at their best with a re-match coming up Sunday night against the league leading Metcalfe Jets 1.
