Cumberland Tournament winners!
2013-02-05The OMHA's Bantam A Wild! went into the Cumberland Dukes tournament this past weekend and came out champions !
Following a close 3 - 2 loss to Kanata in game one, the Wild! came back Saturday with two convincing wins and picked up the wild card spot for the semi finals.
Facing Cumberland A2 in the semi final, the Orleans club quickly found themselves facing a 2 goal deficit at the end of the first. Battling back, as they have done often this season, the second period was scoreless.
The Wild! went on to score early in the third a nice unassisted sniper like breakaway shot over the Cumberland goalie's glove. After that goal, the momentum swung to the Orleans team who scored two more unanswered goals to win a close 3 -2 match up.
The final was played against the HRS Hawks from western Quebec (St. Lazare.) The Wild! scored early and turned on its fore-checking game to go up 5 - 0 before letting in the final goal by the Hawks. All in all, the Orleans boys finished with a convincing win through a penalty filled game, ending 5 - 1.
Well done Wild !
